Physio working with client

As we grow older, our bodies change and sometimes challenge us in different ways. Physio for older adults can address these changes appropriately.

Aged care physiotherapy plays a vital role in supporting older Australians to maintain mobility, independence and quality of life. At Forster Tuncurry Physiotherapy & Allied Health we recognise the unique challenges that ageing can bring, from the risk of falls to age-related conditions. Our in-clinic, mobile and at home options for physiotherapy services are here to provide care when it’s needed most.

Forster Tuncurry Physiotherapy & Allied Health physiotherapists work within residential aged care facilities, retirement villages and in-home settings to help manage age-related conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, balance disorders and chronic pain.

Through tailored exercise programs, fall prevention strategies and rehabilitation following illness or surgery, our aged care physios empower seniors to stay active, reduce their risk of injury and improve overall wellbeing.

Our Physiotherapists are dedicated to providing an evidence based, holistic approach to aged care to help individuals remain independent for longer so older adults can continue living the life they choose—whether that’s staying in their own home, remaining socially connected or simply enjoying everyday activities with confidence.

Physio at Home

Physio at home or mobile physio as it is also known is a convenient service where a qualified physiotherapist visits you in your own environment, whether that’s your private home, aged care facility or retirement village and provides personalised treatment and support.

This approach removes the need to travel to a clinic and is especially helpful for those with limited mobility, recent surgery or chronic health conditions. It allows for tailored therapy in a comfortable, familiar setting, supporting independence and recovery with minimal disruption to daily life. Community Aged Care Services that can be delivered in the home are:

  • Physiotherapy and mobility assessments.

  • Strengthening and conditioning exercise programmes.

  • Falls prevention programmes.

  • Mobility and exercise equipment prescription.

  • Physiotherapy programmes for clients on Home Care Packages.

  • Manual handling consulting.

Aged Care Facility Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy in an aged care facility involves on-site treatment and support from qualified physiotherapists to help residents maintain mobility, manage pain and improve overall physical function. It includes personalised exercise programs, rehabilitation after illness or injury, fall prevention strategies and assistance with movement and mobility aids. The goal is to enhance quality of life, promote independence and reduce the risk of hospitalisation, all within the comfort and familiarity of the aged care setting. Aged Facility Care Services include:

  • Physiotherapy and mobility assessments, pain management programmes to ensure ACFI compliance.

  • Development and implementation of group exercise classes and falls prevention programmes.

  • Private visits to aged care facilities including respite clients.

  • Dementia specific assessments and programmes.

  • Manual handling consulting.

These services are suitable for privately paying clients, Home Care Package (HCP) clients and Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) clients.
